Join us for an immersive experience in Matsumoto City!

As part of a subsidized project under the "Culture City of East Asia" initiative — for which Matsumoto City was selected as Japan's representative this year — we will host "Japan-China-Korea Cultural Experience Days" in Nakamachi on July 26 (Sun), September 27 (Sun), and November 22 (Sun). Nakamachi Street will be closed to vehicles every 4th Sunday between April and November (except in August), including these three event dates.

What

Experience traditional games such as Japanese kendama, Korean yutnori, and Chinese xiangqi, as well as calligraphy and traditional musical instruments. Try your hand at origami and painting workshops, or dress up in traditional Japanese, Korean, and Chinese clothing. You can also try our capsule toy (gachapon) machines for original Nakamachi souvenirs!

On July 26, enjoy a performance by Japan's No. 1 high school calligraphy team, and participate in calligraphy and kodo (the Japanese art of incense appreciation) workshops led by local high school students.
