Eco-friendly Street Fair on every 4th Sunday of June - November!

We will hold 'Eco-friendly Street Fair 2022' from June 26th.

Nakamachi Street will be free of vehicle on every 4th Sunday between June and November. Then you can participate in fun activities about zero-carbon, SDGs, and organic life style.

Live performances: kokarina (wooden ocarina) (June, July, October), calligraphy show by Arigasaki High School Students (August, November), eco-kodan (traditional oral Japanese storytelling) (September)

Examples of activities: try wood crafting, make beeswax cling wrap & candle and wooden products, buy organic agriculture product like blueberry and eco-friendly goods at flea market, play SDGs games (August), see demonstration of solar cooker and solar water heater, and more!

Japanese Culture Experience Days

So as to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Japanese Culture Experience Days events scheduled for March 3rd and March 10th have been canceled.

Join us for an immersive experience in Matsumoto City! This year, there are 12 chances to try a wide range of different cultural activities.

Those who participate in the experiences will receive a coupon for a 5% discount at various stores on Nakamachi Street (good for 6 days).

Handicrafts (origami accessories, hairpins, badges, baskets, miniature wrapping cloth, wreaths, etc.) along with kendama, spinning tops, and fans are on sale at the plaza in front of the building. You can also participate in a painting experience for kendama, spinning tops, and fans.

You can also participate in a drawing for goods, or painting experiences for kendama, spinning tops, and fans.

Relax with a refreshing drink as you take in Japanese culture with the on-site food truck selling original Nakamachi drinks such as sake, amazake (a sweet, fermented rice drink) and coffee.

Japanese Culture Experience Day 2018

Nakamachi’s popular Japanese culture event from last year is back again this November!

On November 3, we will hold 'Japanese Culture Experience Day 2018' at the square in front of Kurassic-kan. Participate in fun, hands-on activities such as playing the shamisen or a traditional geisha game, try out a ninja blowgun, make a wooden glider, buy and drink some local sake, and more! You can also see an awesome Japanese iaido (swordsmanship) demonstration, shamisen and Japanese drum performances, professional kendama players, and a parade of Japanese warriors.
